GrrlSpot & New Orleans Pride
Saturday - June 23, 2012
On June 23rd, beginning at 8:00 pm, we'll celebrate New Orleans Pride, GrrlSpot style, and introduce you to Canal Street's newest luxury hotel. Located on the corner of Canal and Burgundy, the Saint Hotel was chosen as one of this year's hottest new U.S. destinations. Trust us, you've gotta see it.
We'll begin the festivities with a live, local band, then bring on a DJ to help you shake what your mama gave ya, provide two bars to keep you hydrated and the Saint's award winning restaurant will be there for dessert.
FLEURT! 2012

With Burlesque, drag, live music, and hundreds of women from throughout the Gulf South, Fleurt was New Orleans' largest, most talked about women's event of 2011. If you thought that was fun, you won't believe what's next....

"How can I explain how insanely queer this city is? I'll try my best. Breaking down roles, recreating identities, writing our own stories, and celebrating the uniqueness of our culture is ingrained in the essence of NOLA."

GRRLSPOT ANNOUNCES A WEEKEND OF EVENTS DURING SOUTHERN DECADENCE
Dykeadence Events Grow, GrrlSpot Heats up New Orleans, Labor Day Weekend
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Following last year’s first ever “Fleurt,” the Dykeadence Party that broke records for the New Orleans Lesbian and Queer scene, GrrlSpot brings more excitement and heat for Southern Decadence weekend 2012.
The stage is set for another record breaking Southern Decadence Weekend, and GrrlSpot has partnered with Dykeadence for the fourth year to expand inclusive events for women and people of all sexual orientations and gender identities during Southern Decadence, one of the largest LGBT festivals of the world. GrrlSpot, New Orleans’ premier pop-up lesbian and queer bar, guarantees days of exhilaration this Labor Day Weekend through a lineup of events.
GrrlSpot Director Christine Johnson relays, "I'm very excited about Dykeadence this year. We got a lot of great exposure for the women of Southern Decadence last year and we've already grown bigger and better for the upcoming year. GrrlSpot's 'Fleurt' was the largest event of the weekend and the most successful ever for GrrlSpot - this year, we're taking out all the stops."
The fun kicks off on Friday, August 31st at House of Blues. Female Hip-Hop Duo, God-Des and She takes stage, followed by New Orleans’ own Drag King Troupe, The New Orleans Carnival Kings, and DJ Gage keeps the party jumping late into the night. Tickets go on sale August 1st at the House of Blues Box Office and online through Stub Hub. The Show starts at 9:00 PM, doors open at 8:00 PM.
On Sunday, September 2nd, GrrlSpot wraps up the Weekend with a bang, with “Fleurt,” the largest and most anticipated party of Dykeadence. Last year, Fleurt drew over 450 people in the midst of Tropical Storm Lee, which deterred many from coming to the city for Decadence. This year’s Fleurt will be held at the newly restored Joy Theater on Canal Street. New Orleans' only Female DJ Duo, "Puss in Beats," featuring DJ Jenna Jordan and DJ Sonja Lofton, starts the evening, then introduces a sassy show by Bella Blue and the New Orleans School of Burlesque. After the Show, “Fleurt” your way into the morning with one of New Orleans’ best known DJs.

Yet Another Wildly Successful Dykeadence & Decadence!
We Ain't Scared of No Hurricane!
Thank you to everyone who celebrated Southern Decadence & Dykeadence 2012!
Though Hurricane Isaac threatened to rain on our parade, He left town just in time for the festivities to start. Most of Greater New Orleans was without electricity and basic utilities, but like true New Orleanians, we bucked up and partied our faces off, Friday through Monday.
After braving flooding, closed roads, and an encounter with The National Guard, just 12 hours after the Storm ended, God-Des and She rolled into town and kicked off the weekend. They mesmerized the lively crowd with smooth rhymes and pitch-perfect voices; they sang some originals, a few covers, and unreleased soon-to-be hits. Their brand new, refreshing and unique sound, soon to be revealed in an upcoming album release, will glide gracefully into the Mainstream. On a team with The New Orleans Carnival Kings and DJ GAGE, the House of Blues was alive into the morning. The show set the bar high for Decadence weekend.
Sunday night brought Fleurt - the annual Dykeadence & Decadence Grand Finale. Fleurt lit up the historic Joy Theater on Canal Street, and gave us a night to remember. Beneath the glow of green and purple lights, in a theater with a story and personality all its own, DJ Soul Sister, with her turntables and vinyl, stood center stage and grooved us into the evening. Bella Blue and Trixie Minx teased a crowd of hungry eyes as they untied corsets, blinked sassy eyes, and won the hearts of 400 new (and old) fans. The Tantilizing Team later made way for DJ Duo "Puss 'n Beats," featuring DJs Jenna Jordan and Sonja Lofton. The Duo spun all the favorite dance hits and kept the party bumping until the music stopped at 3 a.m., when a disappointed crowd shuffled out through the front doors.
2012 was a sensational year for GrrlSpot and Dykeadence, it was a great Southern Decadence, and we're looking forward to 2013. GrrlSpot keeps setting the bar higher each year, so stay tuned for next year's line-up, and prepare to be thrilled and amazed!
